TEA TIME!

What I love in the winter is a warm cup in my hand. Since starting the Ideal Protein adventure I've been trying out some teas. There are so many out there to chose from! So I am going to give you some info on types of teas which are good for morning and night time and different flavours out there!

Morning teas I like to have a black or green tea in the am gives me that zing that I need!

Tea plantation in JavaIndonesia

Black tea
is a type of tea that is more oxidized than the oolonggreen, and white teas. All four types are made from leaves of the shrub (or small treeCamellia sinensis. Black tea is generally stronger in flavor than the less oxidized teas. Two principal varieties of the species are used – the small-leaved Chinese variety plant (C. sinensis subsp. sinensis), used for most other types of teas, and the large-leaved Assamese plant (C
. sinensis subsp. assamica), which was traditionally mainly used for black tea, although in recent years some green and white have been produced.
In Chinese languages and neighboring countries, black tea is known as "red tea" (Mandarin Chinese hóngcháJapanese kōcha; 홍차, Korean hongcha), a description of the colour of the liquid; the term black tea refers to the colour of the oxidized leaves. In Chinese, "black tea" is a commonly used classification forpost-fermented teas, such as Pu-erh tea; in the Western world, "red tea" more commonly refers to rooibos, a South African tisane.
While green tea usually loses its flavor within a year, black tea retains its flavour for several years. For this reason, it has long been an article of trade, and compressed bricks of black tea even served as a form of de facto currency in MongoliaTibet, and Siberiainto the 19th century.[1] Although green tea has recently seen a revival due to its purported health benefits, black tea still accounts for over ninety percent of all tea sold in the West

English Breakfastdescribed as full-bodied, robust, and/or rich, and blended to go well with milk and sugar.
English Afternoon teais medium bodied, bright and refreshing. Strong Assam and Kenyan teas are blended with Ceylon which adds a light, brisk quality to the blend.
Irish Breakfastit is a blend of several black teas: most often Assam teas and, less often, other types of black tea.
Masala chaicombines black tea, spices, milk, and a sweetener such as sugar or honey; a traditional beverage from India which has been adapted in the West with changes to the method of preparation.
In the United States, citrus fruits such as orange or lemon, or their respective rinds, are often used to create flavored black teas, sometimes in conjunction with spices (such as cinnamon). These products can be easily confused with citrus-based herbal teas, but the herbal products will generally be labelled as having no caffeine; whereas, the tea-based products do contain caffeine.

The plant is used to make an herbal tea called rooibos teabush tea (esp. Southern Africa),red bush tea (esp. UK), South African red tea, or red tea. The product has been popular inSouthern Africa for generations and is now consumed in many countries. In South Africa it is common to prepare rooibos tea in the same manner as black tea, and add milk and sugar to taste. Other methods include a slice of lemon and using honey instead of sugar to sweeten.

Several coffee shops in South Africa have recently begun to sell "red espresso", which is concentrated rooibos served and presented in the style of ordinary espresso. This has given rise to rooibos-based variations of coffee drinks such as red lattes and red cappuccinosIced tea made from rooibos has recently been introduced in South Africa, Australia, and in the United States. A variant of a London Fog, known as a Cape Town Fog, can also be made using Rooibos steeped in steamed milk with vanilla syrup.

HERBAL TEA

An
herbal tea, tisane, or ptisan is a herbal or plant infusion and usually not made from the leaves of the tea bush (Camellia sinensis). Like brews made of the tea bush, such infusions are prepared by combining hot water and fruits, leaves, roots or grains. The resulting drink can be served hot or cold. Herbal tea has been used for nearly as long as written history extends[citation needed]. Documents have been recovered dating back to as early as Ancient Egypt and Ancient China that discuss the enjoyment and uses of herbal tea[citation needed]. Among Chinese, herbal tea is commonly known as liang cha (Chinese:

bengal spice is my new favourite herbal tea'sfrom the celestial seasonings! It has cinnamon as the main star! perfect for this time of year!

President's choice has some great herbal teas as well I suggest the raspberry thriller I try different brands to see what I like best!

It's also great to try relax tea for the night time or if you have a big presentation that day! Also sleepy time teas are great to unwind. The teas I've been purchasing are about 2.99 for 20 cups of tea and lately I've been buying 4 boxes because I have a hard time picking and since I don't buy my hot beverages I can totally justify 80 cups of tea for the price of 2 lattes!

SO Have a hot cup of tea because tea time is all the time especially in -18 degree weather!

day 13 almost at the 2 week mark! I had a battle with a food demon...it won

Sunday is my family day were I spend time with my husband and my kitties!
Lately we've been going to the library for an outing for books, dvd's, cd's and magazines.
Sundays to me also means comfort foods so I've decided that Sundays are my day for spaghetti!

Breakfast was a Herb and Cheese Omelet as you can see I used a different pan older non-stick work and it turned into a egg scramble! It was delicious! The herbs are green and red pepper it has a great texture! Great way to start your morning!

Lunch was of course the famous Spaghetti bolognese! It is hot and yummy perfect for  a cold day. I don't make spaghetti a lot at home but I forgot what comfort it brings me my mom makes a great spaghetti dinner!

Super was 2 cups of steamed veggies with a little soya sauce and a roasted chicken leg and thigh. It was super fast to make as it was a pre-roasted chicken. As you can see in the picture I've removed the skin I'm not a fan of it but it make the chicken look really ugly so I apologize for the naked chicken leg LOL!

SNACK time was this scrumptious Chocolate Chip cookie! It is a large cookie it has a  soft texture and doesn't crumble almost vanilla cake like they are very good the texture is really nice and there's a good sweetness to it.

Now for some honesty I was a bad girl..........Notice I didn't make a salad or veggies for lunch I didn't want anything cold so I just ate my Happy spaghetti..............but later on in the evening after my cookie I was not satisfied and it wasn't even that I was hungry I just wanted something. I had about 3 cups of tea and it wasn't helping! Yup I'm totally a food addict with PMS ( I cried like a baby during the movie to hell and back the Meat loaf biography movie) I was not myself! So I ate some the ideal protein BBQ chips later on and of course my husband looks at me and says : are you allowed to have that? Busted!!!!!!! So my promise is to always have some veggies at lunch and yes I could have a had broccoli instead of the chips but really I was fighting a food demon last night only the chips would do. So I am cleansed of that now the chips tasted like guilt (I'll give you a better taste description later on).

It is a man's own mind, not his enemy or foe, that lures him to evil ways.

day 11

I am feeling lighter on my feet! My skin feels great and I feel like my hair is growing like a weed pretty good for 13 days!

For breakfast I had the plain pancake it was good I was able to make the flip in the pan YAY!  The only thing missing is maple sirup and bacon.......it made me sad so I will probably not keep the plain pancake in my breakfast selection. I would suggest that you make it a savoury pancake topped with some cooked veggies and your side salad a much better choice!

Lunch I had a salad and strawberry pudding. THe pudding was such a pretty colour of pink! It had a little bit of strawberry seeds and the texture was a little bubbly because of shaking it. Because the pudding had 19 gr of protein it does have a bubbly texture as well.

Super I had chicken and sauteed kale and some salad. THe chicken I rubbed with garlic powder and onion powder, summer savoury and salt and pepper. It made a nice crust on the chicken I will make that again! I made a mustard dressing with spices chopped garlic and oil and I keep it in the fridge. It gets better everyday!

My snack was the peanut bar. I am a peanut butter/nuts kind of girl I use to have it everyday so I love this bar very satisfying yummy!!!!
See you tomorrow!

Day 10- This doesn't feel like a diet!

I am feeling great and full of energy! I must say for me day 4 was the worst! I've worn my tightest jeans in the closet (even the knees were tight) and they felt great on! This is a very successful program because of the variety of sweet and salty snack whatever you enjoy you can get with a high protein content to make you feel full and satisfied! I DO NOT FEEL DEPRIVED!

The last picture was my breakfast
The Peach mango mix drink ! It's great if you're craving fruit sweetness it's very frothy as you can see.
I like my breakfast in a cup!

Lunch was the IP Soy pattie with a large salad. I didn't make it pretty......I was hungry. The texture is like a burger. It had a re-fry bean flavour with some tomato paste really yummy.

Super I had a large salad with a cooked shiitake mushroom and a boiled egg.

My Snack was the Best! It's going to be on my favourite list! The Lemon bar .......I think I'm in love. White chocolate covered bar with lemon poppy seeds. It has a marsh mallow texture AMAZING!

DAY 9! Skinny never tasted so good!

I am pleased to let you know that I am down 9.4 pds so far!
Great start and numbers like that give a girl motivation that she can do it!
Will a little determination and a good plan!
Know for the best part of my blog let's talk about food!

Day 9 was a vegetarian day!

For Breakfast I had the pre-made chocolate shake! Great for a person on the go rich and creamy and it brings me back to my childhood : tetra pack with straw :D

For Lunch I brought the tomato basil soup and a salad I've made a dressing that I keep at work for my salads. The soup had a lot of flavour and people always say my soups smell good! They taste good too! I love having something warm this time of year for lunch. I didn't bring my camera with me next time I will try to remember!

For Supper I marinated some tofu in the morning with soya sauce garlic and green onions. I cooked the slices in a non-sitck pan so there nice and crispy. For my veggies I sauteed kale with chopped garlic and S+P. It cooked down so much so I also had a dill pickle and celery.

Snack Time! I tried the white cheddar ridges they are super crunchy and the flavour is nice gives you that real chip experience.

Day 8 Chocolate muffin time!

DAY 8

As you can see I had a pretty tasty day!

Breakfast was the chocolate muffin! Which I made with the Ideal protein chocolate pancake mix.
I used 50ml of water in the shaker added the mix and shake( if the consistency is too think add a 1-2Tbsp of water) I used a microwave safe ceramic dish to cook my muffin for about 1min30 sec. It would look super cute in a mug to have that muffin shape!

Lunch was a salad and cream of chicken soup. THe soup was flavourful, rich and very thick and creamy! It kept me full during a matinee movie no need for popcorn for this girl! I brought a IP snack just in case I got a craving but I saved it for my night time snack.

Super I had mixed green veggies with spices and I 1/2tsp of olive oil and a serving of shrimp.

For my snack I had the peanut soy snack. They were SOOOO GOOD! I think the soy snacks are my favourite. Imagine reese peanut butter cups with a crunch interior without that sugar craving after you're finished!

I forgot to mention my snack for the night before!
I made banana Ice cream!
With the ideal protein pudding mix and leave in the freezer for 30 mins!
Great snack if you like banana flavour which I love!
