Getting ready for christmas !

It's getting cold out there. It's time to think about heating up your Veggies and having some great holiday teas!

The 100 mysteries @ the be well spa is a popular one and if your out the celestial bengal tiger tea is my favourite x-mas tea roibois with cinnamon!

Breakfast I had 2 slices of whole grain toast with 1 tsp of peanut butter and 1 tsp of coconut oil. 1/2 cup of peaches as well

What is happening is I am slowly waking up the pancreas and insulin production.

Lunch I had a protein drink and large veggie salad

supper I had broccoli and cauliflower and sausages

I didn't have a snack too late and tired

I was able to see a couple of our Ideal protein people from last year they're still keeping it in check and grabbing some Ideal protein snacks for over the holidays! They are maintaining beautifully their weight loss. SO AWESOME!!!

Have a great day

DAy 1 of Phase 3 What should I eat for breakfast?

I forgot How this part of the program you are on your own for breakfast. I don't know what to eat!
I can have a carb, a fat, protein and fruit! It seems like a lot but it should be the biggest meal of the day. The Scale went up over the week-end due to my food choices but it's back down!!! Persevere through!
Burn that sugar!

Breakfast I had a serving of oatmeal and I added scoop of protein powder!

For Lunch I had celery sticks and cheese and a small handful of almonds ( the protein was not on protocol)

For Supper I had Ham & split pea soup. Again not on protocol. It was the best left over for my ham it was so good. But again lots of carbs there!

My snack I had the dark chocolate pudding!
I am going to review my old post just to see what I had for food last time!

Have a great day!

LEt's talk about food meditation for the Holidays!

IT's almost christmas it's time to make a plan for what you might be doing and eating. What do you really desire to eat this time of year! Have control and take things step by step. If you really must have that bite of grand-ma's sugar cookies have one but enjoy every moment of that food. Don't just hoover it and then you decide that wasn't enough and eat a tray.

-FOOD meditation is great to do during the holiday's. No you don't sit on a cushion and chant.
Start with looking at the food really see it the texture, colour, smell the aroma. You are present with the food. Take a bite and feel the texture really taste the food. Is it as delicious as it appears? You will be more satisfied and full using this technique. You can use this technique anytime!

-There are statistics that suggest that you get a high of off food for the first 3 bites and then you flatline. So nothing will taste as good as the first 3 bites. If you are like me your always chasing the sugar dragon :D
So try one cookie/snack at a time and enjoy it. Have a moment with it.
If your at a party and there's a lot going on loud music, lots of conversation pay attention to your food consumption because you might be eating more because your not paying attention to the food or if you feel uncomfortable during a social situation......(anyone visiting their inlaws)

-Bring healthy snacks to share with the group veggie trays always help me. Eat before you go so you don't overindulge it's a good thing turkey is the main event so load up on the good stuff and bring a salad to share :D

-Most important whatever you do be kind to yourself if you have something not on protocol don't trow in the towel and binge on food. Pat yourself on the back and keep your head up. Enjoy the food and do not demonize your decisions. You always have a choice in the mater and you are in control this holiday!
Do some family activities outdoors together!

Another Birthday party!

I went to my second diner party which happened to be another Birthday party! I was also working this day a wonderful busy Saturday! Busy days are good because there's no time to think about food! I've notice I have been having a lot of coffee lately due to the fact that it feels like we are living in darkness. I've been looking into buying a solar light! I think it would totally worth the money! So because yesterday I had starch (Bulgur and I glass of wine). I am no longer in ketosis and I was feeling the cravings of having food and wanting sugar by 11:00am today. Staying strong!

Breakfast I had the crispy cereal

Lunch I had the lemon and vanilla pudding and spinach and a little ground pork.

SUper we went to Sushi Nami Royale!
I had the miso soup salmon sashimi, a spicy salmon roll and a Kamikaze roll which is a cream cheese lightly salmon roll battered and fried.
More than I should have had but the sashimi was the best and next time I would just go with that!

I am keeping it pretty clean for the next week until my christmas party ;)

Have a great day!

I went out for supper and it was delicious and fun!

Tis the season for Birthday parties! This week-end we have two birthday diners! Since my husband and I bought our house we haven't really gone out for diner. We both really like to cook and if we want to make it a special occasion we go to the grocery store and get special more expensive items and make it. We enjoy the quiet and comfort of home and dishes are easy when we are on top of them :D Last night we went to Istanbul the restaurant we had a great time and event had a drag show performance. Very entertaining :D

Breakfast I had the berry yogourt drink and this breakfast has kind of grown on me when I first tried it I felt like it wasn't enough quantity of food for me at breakfast but the last two times I wasn't hungry too early and I find I really have to drink my water!

People drink your water your body will thank you for it! your skin will also look fabulous! I try to drink 3 litres a day yesterday I think I had 2 litres but I feel better with one more.

Lunch I had left over ground pork with romaine lettuce topped with dressing.

Supper was a later than my usual 5pm

I had a glass of wine so not on protocol! But it was really really good I shared my wine with my husband! We shared a appetizer of mixed spreads of humus and taziki etc. I had the lamb moussaka I could have had a meat stick thingy but I have order envy a lot and I just got the same as my husband.
We finished with baklava. It was one of the best I've ever had a couple of sheets of phylo and fresh pistachios!!

Tonight was more of a treat because tomorrow we're going out for sushi and I wont have any wine or dessert I new I would be more on protocol tomorrow and I was going all out tonight and it was very enjoyable.

Last night I could really feel my liver working from the sugars/wine. Sorry liver i'll be good to you......until my x-mas party next week-end ;D

Have a great day!

Phase 2 Day 9 Diary of an emotional eater

Today was an emotionally harder day and if someone had a box of cookies around me yup they would have been gone. I was so crazy I though I heard someone at the door last night and I though please bring me sweets. This is how my mind works: feel bad? Eat something fatty and sweet! Do you feel better? Answer :no I feel worst because you still feel like crap and you just ate terrible food so I feel even bad and disappointed!

Instead I cried and felt the feelings: scared, baffled, mostly scared of the unknown. I would have just suppressed these feelings with a container of cashews and chocolate ok so I had 5 cashews and one chocolate...news flash they didn't change anything.
After a night sleep I feel better I read The course of miracles every morning and I find that always helps me put my thoughts into perspective and keeps me calm.

Breakfast: I had the always delicious crispy cereal with a touch of cinnamon.

Lunch I had romaine lettuce salad with lemon juice and sea salt and 3 boiled eggs.

Supper yup I had to have my burger salad again! Check yesterday's post for the recipe!

Snack: I made lemon and vanilla pudding and 1/2 and 1/2 in 2 containers. It was ok but not as delicious as I though it would be...I think I put not enough water in the vanilla and too much in the lemon. Also maybe making food when being upset doesn't taste as good and for that matter don't eat anything when you are upset.

Today is a better day so have a good one!

Tuesday on Ideal protein Best supper ever!! Better than BIG MAC salad!

I tried a new recipe for super and it blew my mind! It was delicious and felt indulgent :D I am sure my husband might ask for this salad maybe tonight!

Breakfast I had the quick and easy Crispy cereal!

Lunch I had the left over spicy bokchoy soup from sunday (check out the recipe) and two eggs.

Supper I made the fabulous must try BIG MAC SALAD!
I started by heating up ground pork but you can use any ground meat.
I cut a 2 heads of romaine lettuce and I had some yellow bell pepper. I place the lettuce in a dish and I topped it with raw onion cut very  small (like the burger) and sesame seeds then I topped and mixed the salad with dressing (french Walden farms works very well). Then I topped it with the ground meat and added a little more sauce! It was great!

For my snack I had the banana pudding a great change and it has the banana medicine flavor that I liked! It was a nice fruity change from the chocolate I usually have especially since I felt decadent with my supper.

Have a great day

Monday second week of phase two!

This is such a great phase I eat 2 ideal protein a day and make my own lunch and supper. I am not a huge meat eater and lately I find it's hard to keep in the house. LOL. So today I was a little creative with tofu for super.

I have an issue with my thyroid sometimes so I've taken my temperature every day for about 3 years now to check my energy levels. One thing I notice I never dip down my temperature on this program which means that my metabolisms is working top notch!! If this is an issue for you you might want to look into this program to regulate and also boost your metabolism!

For breakfast I was craving chocolate so I had the chocolate drink. It is rich and  creamy like a favourite hot chocolate from a coffee shop!

Lunch I had 2 eggs on top of sauteed spinach and spicy sauce!

Supper I had steamed brocoli and sauteed mushroom with a little soya sauce. I topped this with a tofu vegan fettucini sauce!
THis recipe I took from the Happy Herbivore!

http://happyherbivore.com/recipe/instant-vegan-alfredo/
CHeck it out it is with silken tofu and I omit the flour

For my snack I enjoyed the peanut soy puffs they are my favourite!!!

HAve a great day

SATURDAY & SUNDAY'S GREAT DAYS TOGETHER!

This Saturday I was on vacation! Yay! I have promised myself to not get near any malls and stores for the month of December unless it is very early on Sunday or Tuesday Morning!!!! This my friends has made me less stressed and much happier especially on my pocket book. I got to spend the day with friends!

I like to make my gifts for people I started knitting 11 years ago but in the last 2 years I've really developed great skills and it's made me more patient and my hands busy if I am watching TV instead of eating.  Knitting gives me great joy! It is important to find something you like to do that has that affect and uses your creativity and allows you to express yourself! A friend of mine who is 73 does photography and she is so passionate about it and she is extremely talented! It's great to look back and think about what you enjoyed as a child most likely you would still enjoy these things like painting, playing an instrument!

On Sunday I planned a holiday craft day this was the best craft day I could have imagined!! I made a veggie tray with everything but carrots that I could eat (broccoli, yellow pepper, celery). I set the event for 1:30 to 4:30 so we wouldn't focus on food. Invited anyone who was interested and was making something for christmas. We had a crocheter, a lumor, 3 knitters, a beader, paper flower and jewellery making and a spanish acoustic guitar player!! It was a fabulous time we had laughs shared stories of how we got into our craft and sang some x-mas songs Felis Navidad! This will be done again in the new year holly molly. My tip to you create a community with the things you like to do. Join a running group, acoustic jam sessions, form an archery group or join a club!

Breakfast

Cripsy cereal with a touch of cinnamon

Lunch we went to a new diner! Hali deli on Agricola. A jewish inspired deli they specialize in smoke meat sandwiches borscht soup, matzo ball soup etc. I had the Julien salad mayo dressing boiled egg, chicken on romaine. Delicious! ON

Hanukkah! Happy HAnukkah!

Supper I had a donair....... yes it was delicious and I tried not to eat the pita but I could not stop myself! We were out all day. I though it was the beat bad outing protein choice....

Snack I had the delicious chocolate balls

Sunday!

Breakfast was the usual Crispy cereal.

LUnch spicy pork soup. I sauteed pork added celery, mushrooms, green onions and bok choy. Water soy sauce, hot sauce, and little vinegar and 2 tbsp of agave.

IT's Friday

IT's Friday! My favourite topic food! I browse restaurant menu and I have a pretty good cookbook collection. I can talk food all day long. I finish breakfast I am already thinking about lunch and diner! I must say I am getting a little tired of the meat so it's always a good time to change you protein and veggies when you are not excited about the  food. A tip for you Ideal protein people : I use the restricted items as my week-end treat! I keep the puddings for the week day I am always looking at how to add more zing to the food!

Breakfast I had the vanilla drink I hadn't had this in a long time and I really quite enjoyed the flavour and the texture! It kept me satisfied for a long time after 12 which is not normal for me. I also had an extra coffee which probably suppressed my hunger as well.

Lunch I had a beautiful piece of salmon with fresh veggie salad.
I get an organic food box 1x a week and the green mix is great it's every bite is a surprise there's even horseradish greens in the mix surprise yasabi bite here and there! I added a little lemon and sea salt and 1tsp of oil for my dressing!

SUpper I had a broccoli frittata! 4 cups of chopped steamed broccoli with 6 beaten eggs in a glass pyrex pie plate topped with coloured bell peppers salt and pepper ( I added a touch of cheese after it was heated through not on protocol). Cooked in the oven at 350degree for about 45 min. I ate 1/2 of it and it was awesome!

My snack I made a peppermint tea with the strawberry wafers.
To make this more of an experience put your snack on a nice small plate so you'll eat it more slowly and have more of a relaxing experience with your evening treat!

Have a great day

Chocolate coffee and lemon meringue pudding makes day phase two great!

Today was great day to try new things!

I was running out the door and I had to finish my chocolate drink and I though why not put this in my hot coffee? It was delicious and if you're a person who likes lattes this time of year add the vanilla or chocolate drink to your coffee and add some spice :cinnamon/ginger/cardamon. Whatever you like!

One week Ideal protein quick start creates a huge weight loss

Success! I was on track no deviation no (delicious treat) could get in my way. It is craft season and the holidays are coming! This means that there are lots of opportunity to say no thank you to sweets and savoury treats. A lot of my friends and family have made great changes in their eating habits this year and it is wonderful to see everyone healthier, happier and sexier! When you feel good about your choices you not only pat yourself on the back but there is some pride of self that you are reaching your goal! You can also inspire the people around you!

A life long trait for myself is the reward/punishment of eating food. I have done this pattern since I was a teenager and now that I am aware I am more observant and kind to myself.

Normally I make my husband very aware that I am on a (diet-I hate that word), cleanse, lifestyle change, regime etc. Yesterday he would ask would you like a chocolate and I would laugh and he would immediately remember Oh my gosh honey I totally forgot I am sorry. So to me this means I haven't been so winy about this process. Yes I have not been very pleasant because of the emotions that have come up but it is never about the food (for me).

The total loss for 1 week has been 10 lb. (ok my scale isn't the greatest so I will see when I get to work what the digital scale says).
A few things to remember I will probably gain 3-5 lb. on average once I start eating carbs again. I will be going into phase two tomorrow to slowly introduce my own protein at lunch time for 14 days.

The goal for me was to help me make better choices and eliminate sugar cravings. Lets not forget I want to wear my skinny jeans over the holidays!!

FOod:

Crispy cereal for breakfast with a touch of cinnamon

lunch on the go I had the Ideal protein fruit yogurt. It was really great it has been a long time since I've had it and I liked it for a lunch time meal. I had a large salad at Sobey's with a boiled eggs, ham, bacon and caesar dressing( I always look at the label it had the least amount of sugar and carb it was not a calorie wise dressing they add more sugar to replace the fat)

Supper I made a eggplant, green pepper and zucchini stir fry with pork. I added a little black bean sauce to give it a little flavour (not appropriate for phase 1 really because of the sugar)

For my snack I had the vanilla pudding

Have a great day

Day 6

Oh Saturday it could have been a day of treats but it's easier to stay away from them when you don't have any around. Also when you are eating the proper amount of protein and veggies I find I am not hungry for snacks.

Breakfast was the crispy cereal with cinnamon I added hot water by mistake but I quite like the change:D. This cereal is like rice crispies you have to eat it right away.

Lunch I had the potato puree it was very nice and creamy! I frgot my veggies so I loaded up for super.

I had my snack in between this time lunch and super I was out so I had the peanut soy puffs with me. I love to have these on hand they taste great and sometime you just need a couple to hold you over.So this was my week-end treat!

For super I had stir fry porc and broccoli with soya sauce it was fantastic.

It was movie night for us and we had coffee and lots of water by the fire :D

DAY 5 Mexican dark chocolate pudding

Yes I wore my skinny jeans yesterday!! YAHOO!

So that is very rewarding but the simple fact that I can stay away from the starchy /chocolate food is a reward :

"yes I would like a rum and eggnog"....
"sure that specialty chocolate with coconut and cashews looks good"(my weakness)

but you know what they will taste better when my skinny jeans have a little more room in them at christmas all these tasty treat can wait!

Make a list and plan ahead. If you can go to a veggie specialty store and avoid the inner isle it's much easier to make your food choices. We are so bombarded with novelty food that have no nutritional value...for the holidays.

Food for today

Crispy cereal with a touch of cinnamon. I like this because it is a food that you can have as much as you want (ideal protein) super foods they have less carbs like the soups pudding and drinks. It is also very quick to make add water and eat immediately.

Leek soup with cut veggies: bell pepper, cucumber and zucchini. CHopped and sprinkled with a little sea salt. I keep them at room temperature so I am not freezing all day. Cold veggies keep me cold especially when it's -10 outside.

For supper I made a chopped mushroom gravy with soya sauce and  ground beef and I topped it on steamed broccoli very nice and delicious.

For my snack I made mexican dark chocolate pudding!
mixe dark chocolate pudding as directed and I added 1/4 tsp of cinnamon and 1/8 tsp of crushed dried chili. It was the perfect desert for a cold night!

Have a great day
